A few weeks ago Elle and Gabrielle (Elle’s momma’) and I high-jacked a driveway in Los Gatos for a few minutes. Our little mini shoot went off beautifully and Elle was about the happiest little kiddo I’ve ever seen. You can see that shoot HERE for mass quantities of cuteness.
Well, the Chunky Monkey turned 1 recently, and a party had to be thrown. But first, I’m going to take a step back in time. I knew immediately Gabrielle, Elle’s mommy, and I would be friends when I found out she calls Elle her “Chunky Monkey.” Why? Because that’s exactly what I call Royce. He’s also my Chunky Monkey. And when she started to tell me more and more her family, I fell in love with them before I even met them.
So the planning commenced. And after all the decorations were placed, the pastries were created and baked, and the invitations went out, it was a brilliant The Hungry Caterpillar kind of day. The decorations and treats reflected every aspect of that classic children’s book – a book that even I remember having read to me in preschool. And the weather was gorgeous. A beautiful late summer afternoon in California.
After a traditional christening, some anointing, lots of hugs and a few family portraits at a local park, the party started and between kids in the sandbox and bean bag tosses, face painting, amazing food and lots of singing, I left feeling full of both confections and love, and came away with some beautiful images.
Happy birthday, Elle! If this is your first birthday, I imagine that your Sweet 16 is going to be spectacular!
